Secure password

Set a password that is long and unique enough and do not use the same password across multiple services. You can find good password tips in the National Cyber Security Centre’s password guide .

Never disclose your Posti credentials to others and never log in to the service at the request of anyone who has contacted you.

You can also enable a password manager. It is a separate tool that creates and saves a new password for each service you use, and remembers passwords for you.

Downloading and updating the app

Only download the OmaPosti app from an official application store, either Google Play store or App Store. The publisher of the application is Posti Group Corporation. Posti never sends the application file directly to the customer. If you are unable to download the app on to your mobile device, you can access OmaPosti with your browser at www.omaposti.fi/en .

In the application store, you can access the download link via the OmaPosti info page. Alternatively, search for “omaposti” in the application store.

And remember to update your device’s operating system and the OmaPosti mobile app to the latest version.

Enabling multi-factor authentication

By using multi-factor authentication and activating the screen lock, you can better protect your OmaPosti account from unauthorized access.

Enabling multi-factor authentication in the OmaPosti application:  

  • Open the OmaPosti app.  

  • Select Menu – Settings – Authentication – Multi-factor authentication.  

  • Select Multi-factor authentication and Activate now.  

  • Use strong identification to confirm your selection. You need an online bank ID, a Mobile ID or a certification card. 

  • Create and confirm your PIN code. In addition to the PIN code, you can enable facial recognition or fingerprint recognition.

If you enable multi-factor authentication in the OmaPosti app and then log in to OmaPosti via a browser, you need to confirm the login via the OmaPosti app.

Confirming the login:  

  • Open the OmaPosti app when the website prompts you to confirm your login in the app.  

  • Check that the login ID is the same on the website and in the app.  

  • Confirm the login.

You can also use the screen lock as added protection for your OmaPosti app. You can manage the screen lock in the device settings. When the lock is enabled, you can open OmaPosti using the device’s access code, fingerprint recognition or facial recognition.

The best way to protect OmaPosti from unauthorized access is to log out of the service after each session.

Look after your device

We recommend protecting your device from malware with antivirus and firewall software. Update the software regularly according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
