Determining the dimensions of parcels

Please select the correct parcel size for your item

First, select the parcel size. If you are not sure about the correct size, you can use the the parcel price calculator . Measure the length, width and height of the parcel and enter the measurements as centimeters into the calculator. You will receive a recommendation for a suitable parcel size.

Please note that items with the wrong parcel size and uncollected parcels are returned to the sender, and the sender will be charged the price of the return transport. (For example, a Small Parcel delivered to a mail slot may not be larger than 3 x 25 x 35 cm, 2kg).

Maximum parcel size

If the maximum length is 300 cm and the maximum weight is 25 kg, you can send the item as a parcel. If the weight or the dimensions exceed the maximum, send the item as cargo.

Packaging instructions

If you pack your parcel carefully, it will be delivered undamaged and the parcel is safe to handle.

  • Pack the item tightly in packaging of the right size.

  • Select the size so that the parcel can fit not only the goods but also padding material.

  • Use soft materials, such as paper, cardboard or bubble wrap.

  • Make the parcel regular in shape so that it’s easy to handle mechanically.

  • If you’re using pre-used packaging materials, remove any existing delivery details or barcodes. They may make it harder for Posti to sort your parcel.

Fragile items and electrical devices

  • When paying for your parcel, select “Fragile” as a supplementary service.

  • Always wrap fragile contents in sufficient padding. Even though the parcel will be sorted manually, not by a machine, it should be able to withstand loading into a vehicle with other parcels.

  • Attach “Fragile” labels to the parcel. The labels are available at Posti Service Points.

  • Take into account the size, weight and durability of the product when packing it.

  • Select the Fragile supplementary service when sending electrical devices or electronics.

Other tips

  • Protect long objects like carpets, rolls and pipes with bubble wrap or a similar material in addition to other packaging materials. Make sure that the object is also carefully protected at the ends of the packaging.

  • Please note the maximum dimensions of parcels.
